REVOLUTION OF OS

This documentary is about Linux operating system, how it is developed, who are the people involved and how it affects the dominant operating system that time, the Windows operating system. When Richard Stallman started the Free Software/GNU Project, he thought that open source is a way where different ideas of different people can be collaborated to create a better operating system. All people who can contribute to its improvement can give their ideas and be acknowledged with it.  As a result of that many people start to join the movement, then Linus Torvalds create a kernel and called it Linux, a new operating system that is recognized for its speed and being an open source. Linux is from UNIX but all the program are replaced on 1991, where the first version was out at the internet. As more and more people start to know about Linux, they modify it and make their own contributions, then Linux’ improved versions are almost out every year, Linux became popular and companies started to use open source software.
The idea of open source where people can give their ideas and can be a help to other people is really good. Programmers can also get some of ideas 2from open source software and can think of new ideas for the improvement of it for creating new and good software. Open source also have the agreement where people can modify and download it but they have to share it to other people too. So many people can contribute and make improvement even they don’t originally do the software. Open source is free, licensed software is affected by it because some people would prefer to use free software.
